Well, the numbers are in. We just don’t have them. MLB has released the first tally of All-Star votes for both leagues and, they seem to be holding something back. It’s almost as if they know something that we shouldn’t know. Hmmnn. Anyways, we’ll just leave it at that. I’ll email Bud and see if he’ll give me Sal’s totals. For now, we must make due with this:

1. Rodriguez, I. Tigers 370,322
2. Mauer, J. Twins 328,974
3. Varitek, J. Red Sox 301,942
4. Posada, J. Yankees 297,928
5. Martinez, V. Indians 140,033

Yes, Sal made it into the Cooperstown shrine on Monday.
This is yet another reason why everyone should be voting him into the 2007 All-Star Game.

Is Ivan Rodriguez in the Hall of Fame? Of course not.salhallplaque1.jpg

Just wanted to let everyone know that Vote4sal has joined forces with out National League brethren in Vote4spiezio.

They pledged to use their write-in vote for our favorite AL catcher if we use the NL write-in for Scott Spiezio (OF).
We like Scott. He seems like good people. So, let’s do this!

Vote4Sal’s good friend, Todd Devlin, from The 500 Level Blog recently sent this to us:

“When I did the math back on May 1, Sal had 46 home runs in 1020 career at-bats (one every 22.17 AB’s). Meanwhile, Vernon Wells had 145 in 3333 at-bats (one every 22.97 AB’s). Not sure what it is now, but Sal has to have a higher homer-per-at-bat ratio than most, if not all the catchers on the All-Star ballot. Check it out.”

Thanks, Todd. And now we have even more evidence to back up our overwhelmingly strong case for putting Sal in the game full of stars.
